Community Events & Field Trip Ideas

  • The Kaiser Permanente Ming Avenue Farmer's Market will run every Wednesday afternoon from 3 to 6 p.m. and is located in the north parking lot of the medical offices, at the corner of Ming Avenue and Haggin Oaks Boulevard.

  • Bakersfield Ice Sports Center Come join the fun of ice skating with great music and a friendly atmosphere at the Bakersfield Ice Sports Center! Bakersfield Ice Sports Center offers daily public sessions for you and your family to enjoy ice skating, whether it is your first time or you have been skating for years. Please call ahead for programming changes. Morning Sessions may be cancelled due to camps and other programs. Friday Night Sessions may be cancelled for Band Night.

  • Visit the Restaurants Did you know that you can call different restaurants and ask about their policy on allowing daycare/preschool programs to visit?!? A few of them will welcome the opportunity to gain a little Public Relations because they will give you a free lunch, in addition to a little tour of their facility and their menu or brochure to take home to the moms and dads of your little ones. I have had great success with MacDonald's restaurants, Bob Evans and, of all places, The Olive Garden. Of course, they will expect you to come at non-peak hours on a slow day. This is not too much to ask for a great day out. Sometimes you might get a manager who doesn't want to bother for only four or five children, so you can "buddy up" with another home daycare provider, or even a couple of home daycare providers.

  • Dentist Field Trip
    You can schedule a dentist to come in. Some area even have dental programs where they will do free and low cost exams in your center. You could also go to a local dentists office.
